Preview: Manchester Watch Works Morgan

Last week, I promised you more on Manchester Watch Works’ next release. Well, today is the day. At 10:00 am, the Morgan chronograph launches on Kickstarter.

Inspired by 1960’s motor racing and named for the Vermont state horse, the Morgan has a chiseled tank case measuring 40mm wide, 48.5mm long, and 11.8mm thick with a tall, beveled sapphire crystal. An Isaswiss 8371C quartz provides a 1/5 second sweep hand, small seconds at 3 o’clock, 30-minute register at 9 o’clock, and a 6 o’clock register for hours elapsed.

The vintage race-timer look carries through the slate finished dials and sun ray registers. Three versions will be initially offered: black-on-black, blue-eyed panda, and brown-eyed panda. Blue and white will be available as a stretch goal. Other goals include inner anti-reflective coating and a “burnout” pattern nylon strap. A date window is optional. The hands glow with BGW9 SuperLuminova, as do the square hour markers.

One of the coolest aspects for me is the 20mm quilted leather strap that captures a perfect 60’s sports car feel. This is the kind of custom touch you just don’t see every day.

The Morgan will retail for $420 and pre-orders start at just $198. Having reviewed and owned several MWW pieces, I know their quality, and I highly recommend you have a look.
