Hemel Watches is probably best known for its field and aviation watches, and for good reason. They are excellent pieces that comprise most of the brand’s catalog. But they haven’t ignored divers. Hemel’s first, the HD1 Hydroendurance went big – big case, big crown, big numbers, big all around. The forthcoming HD2 Sea Dart takes a different tack, smaller, leaner, and dare I say it, a tad more refined.
Where the HD1 was brash, the HD2 is subdued. It measures 39mm wide, 45mm long, and 11.5 mm thick for a look that is closer to a classic skin-diver. The case features a combination of brushed and polished surfaces and will wear a retro-styled beads-of-rice bracelet. Yes, I realize the top picture shows an oyster-style but trust me, there have been some changes since that prototype. Check out the renders.
Smaller does not mean weaker. The Sea Dart features a double-domed and AR-coated sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown, and is rated for 300m water resistance. A 120-click bezel, diamond cut hands, and C3 luminova are all standard. At its heart is the slim stalwart Miyota 9039, humming at a smooth 28.8k bph.
Buyers can choose from a wide range of colors on the sunburst dial: Black, Black/Gilt, Navy, Robin’s Egg, Salmon, Silver, Pineapple, Coffee, Juniper, or Ruby. For those willing to forego the sunburst, there is also a Full Lume C3 dial.
You can order the HD2 Sea Dart now for $499.99. Head over the HemelWatches.com for more.
