If you recall, I introduced Regia Timepieces here, and then bought this nifty green one for myself. The Regia team has been busy since then, and have just launched a new dial design in four new colors: Crimson Red, Eclipse Orange, Flare Yellow, and Sunburst.
The sandwich dial retains the 12 and 6, perforated index, and the submarine silhouette, but ditches the other numbers in favor of simple slots and the character 發. This is pronounced “fatt” in Cantonese, as in Gong Xi Fatt Cai [恭喜發財], which means “Wishing you a prosperous year.” Because it also sounds like “8” in Cantonese, it occupies the 8 o’clock position.
I really like the distinctive left-right California dial on my Armare Regatta, and I might like the “Fatt Dial” even more. It is good to see watchmakers embracing Chinese heritage, and while I have not seen them in person, those colors look outstanding.
Like all Regias, the new range is available in brass with or without an engraved bezel. The watch measures 44mm wide and 13mm thick. Features include a sapphire crystal, screw down crown, 100m water resistance, display case back, and a Seiko NH35 automatic movement. You can buy one directly from regia-timepieces.com for $350 USD, including DHL shipping.
